Early Life and Olympic DebutKrisztina Egerszegi, a Hungarian swimmer specializing in backstroke and individual medley, was born on August 16, 1974 in Budapest.
She started swimming at a young age and showed such exceptional talent that she was included in the Hungarian Olympic swimming team at the age of 14 for the 1988 Olympic Games held in Seoul. At the Olympics, the unknown young athlete surprised experts by winning the 200-meter backstroke event, defeating the favorites from East Germany.
