          When Marny Stanier left local NBC affiliate WAVY-TV 10 to work at The Weather Channel, she figured it would be a short-term move, a chance to return to her home town of Atlanta for a little while before moving on.

          Almost 15 years later, she is still there and has no plans to leave.

          “You have to remember that this was a long time ago, before The Weather Channel was cool,” Stanier says with a laugh.

          “I intended to be here a year. I told my friends at WAVY, ‘I’ll work at The Weather Channel for a year or so, and then I’ll be off to ‘Good Morning America’ or something like that.

          “Now I’m definitely here to stay.”

          Today Stanier, 39, supervises the channel’s on-camera meteorologists.

          She stays primarily behind the camera herself but still goes on-air from time to time as needed.

          “I miss it in a way,” Stanier says. “I like what I do very much, but there’s a part of me that misses being on t
