          Marshall Bruce Mathers III was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, October 1972. After his father left for California (never coming back), little Marshall and his mom moved to Detroit, and for a time, shuttled between Missouri and Michigan.

          During his childhood, Marshall made several attempts at mailing letters to his father but they all came back “addressee unknown – return to sender”.

          In the Detroit neighborhood where they lived, they were only one of three Caucasian families.

          Marshall was continuously bullied and beaten by neighborhood kids and schoolmates – the most famous incident being his encounter with D'Angelo Bailey.
